Learn how to select yarn, basic knitting and purling stitches, and how to read and understand patterns while creating a small project. Please bring a pair of size 8 knitting needles to the first class. Materials fee up to $20 due first class.

Continue projects and skills from Knitting I and learn advanced skills such as determining gauge, purling, casting on, variations of decreasing and increasing stitches and cable stitch. In this follow up to the beginner sewing course, you will make a small project each week that will help improve your sewing skills. You’ll also learn how to insert a zipper, apply interfacing and elastic, applique, and put in buttonholes. Bring your own machine in good working order.

Sewing Alterations and Repair $74, $74 seniors
Get back into some of the old clothes that you love, but can’t wear anymore. Learn how to alter or repair a garment. Change waistbands, hems, darts or other elements to revive an outfit. You must have sewing experience and a sewing machine in good working order.

Introduction to Quilting $50, $50 seniors
Thinking about trying quilting? In this course students will learn about different styles of quilting, basic rotary cutting skills, and how to create a simple quilt project. Students need to bring their own sewing machine to class. Materials fee up to $5 due first class.

Ready for some more quilting? The beginning to intermediate quilter has a variety of projects to choose from or bring your own ideas. Possible topics include applique, paper piecing, and crazy quilting dependent upon interest. Quilting and binding processes will be covered during the class. You'll have the option of participating in a field trip to a local quilt shop or quilt guild as part of this course. Materials fee up to $5 due first class.

Machine Quilting $50, $50 seniors
Learn how to do both straight line and free motion machine quilting by making some practice samples and putting your new skills to work finishing your quilt. Plan to bring your sewing machine, manual and all presser feet you currently own. Directions for obtaining other accessories will be covered in first class session. A non-refundable. Introduction to Felting $54, $54 seniors
Come learn the basics of wet felting. Transforming colorful wool fibers into felt is a wonderfully engaging and sensory rich process using warm, soapy water and gentle rubbing of your hands. By course end you will have completed several small, introductory projects and will understand the basic concepts to begin felting on your own. A materials fee of $25 due at first class.
