Adult Piano

Get your introduction to the fundamentals of playing a keyboard instrument by learning the basics of finger positions, key, note-reading, rhythmic patterns, and have the opportunity to perform a beginner's level piece of music. Sight reading skills are introduced and strong practice techniques are developed.

Adult Piano II
Total Cost: $119 (Tuition: $40 Fees: $79)
A continuation of Adult Piano I, this course provides additional training for the beginning/intermediate piano student. Further explore and develop rhythmic, sight-reading, and music theory skills in more complex combinations.

Basic Guitar
Total Cost: $55 (Tuition: $25 Fees: $30)
Everybody wants to play the guitar and this beginning class will help you on your way. Students will be taught how to tune and maintain their instruments as well as basic chord progressions, hand positions, and strumming techniques. Students will also learn how to purchase appropriate music, strings and equipment for their instruments. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the satisfaction of making music for themselves.

Guitar Set-Up and Maintenance
Learn to tune and maintain your guitar. A certified guitar technician will teach you the professional tips and trade secrets that pros use to super tune a guitar. Class is appropriate for acoustic, electric and bass guitarists. Bring instrument, and a new pack of strings. Tool kit and manual are included in the total cost.

Beginning Flute Ensemble

It's time to shine the silver. This class is designed for the beginning flute student who wants to improve their skills and musicianship abilities. You will learn at your own speed and find pleasure as you improve.

Drumming Circle
Total Cost: $69 (Tuition: $0 Fees: $69)
Allow your body, brain and nervous system to be energized and transformed as it experiences rhythmic repetition of ritual sounds. Drumming circles are simple in participation but complex in appeal and have a very spiritual and therapeutic quality to them. No experience necessary and students must supply their own drums.

Private Lessons
Total Cost: $119 (Tuition: $0 Fees: $119)
Private music instruction on most instruments and voice is offered for both youth and adult students. Through high-quality one-on-one instruction, students progress with individual attention appropriate to their skill level and ability. Lessons are arranged on an individual basis with the appropriate instructor, instruments are not provided. Before registering, call the Creative Arts Center at 410-780-6533 to make arrangements for placement with an instructor. Students must be 6 years old for piano, 8 years for other instruments, and 11 or older for voice. Lessons are offered at Catonsville, Dundalk, and Essex campuses and other locations in the county. Not all instruments are offered at all locations.

Vocal Basics for Adults
Total Cost: $69 (Tuition: $30 Fees: $39)
Experience the sheer joy of expressing yourself with your voice and learn the fundamentals of vocal production in a non-threatening environment. You'll cover techniques in breathing, posture, warm up exercises, scales, and introductory singing work as well as group singing skills, conductor cues, listening, and intonation.

Then Sings My Soul

Come and appreciate the beauty and historical traditions of some of the most popular hymns. Selected hymns will be sung, discussed and used to assist
students with better tone production. Requests are always welcome.
