Academic Skills Enhancement (ASE)*Grant Funded - No Fee
This class will help you brush up on your skills. Classes run for 20 sessions and offer practical reading, writing and math skills for adults. Placement testing is required at registration to enroll in this class. Books and materials are included. To register, see our ASE/GED Regional Registration chart. ASE/GED *Grant Funded – No Fee
This course offers ASE and GED instruction on an individualized basis. Computer-assisted instruction is available in some classes. This course prepares individuals for further education or employment. Placement testing is required at registration to enroll in this class. Books and materials are included. Essential Skills Enhancement: $165 (Tuition: $ 50 Fees: $115)
This course is designed to review the basic reading, writing, and math skills required by the 2002 General Education Development (GED) test. Topics to be covered include literature and the arts: reading, social studies, science, writing skills, essay development, mathematical computation including areas of estimation, fractions, algebra, geometry, problem solving, and the use of the scientific calculator. This class will offer information on a wide variety of post-secondary options to enable the students to assume primary responsibility for their choices. Books and materials are included in the cost of the course. A placement test at registration is required for enrollment in this course. To register, see our ASE/GED Regional Registration chart. Comprehensive Math Skills Review *Grant Funded – No Fee
This course will increase your math skills and help you transition to GED, External Diploma Program (EDP) and CCBC's Developmental Math courses. Placement testing is required at registration to enroll in this class. To register see our ASE/GED Regional Registration chart. ASE/GED – (Off-campus) Cost: No Fee (*Grant Funded)
Offers Academic Skills Enhancement and GED instruction. Class instruction is individualized. Workplace, family, and other life issues are also incorporated into instruction. Computer-assisted instruction is available. Helps students gain basic education skills and/or skills necessary to pass the GED test. This course prepares students to progress to future education or employment. Daytime and evening classes are available. Call the contact number below to make an appointment to be assessed. The Young Parent Support Center offers childcare (for children 0-3 years of age) during daytime programs only. Transportation is available for both day and evening classes. Grammar Refresher Online $99, $99 seniors (Tuition: $20 Fees: $79)
Gain confidence in your ability to produce clean, grammatically correct documents or speeches. Through the use of definitions, examples, and many reinforcing exercises, Grammar Refresher will cover the basics of English grammar. A patient instructor, memorable lessons, vivid examples, and interactive exercises will give you ample opportunity to put everything you learn into practice. The GED Official Practice Test (OPT) $30
The OPT exam acquaints students with the actual GED test. The OPT is offered one Saturday of each month at CCBC Catonsville and CCBC Essex and takes 6 hours to complete. At the conclusion of the testing, students will be advised of their options. For information on dates and to register for the OPT, please call 410-285-9493 or 410-285-9428.

Maryland GED-i (online) Cost: No Fee (*Grant Funded)
Maryland GED-i is a teacher-supported online learning program for GED test preparation offered to Maryland residents. Do you need help in one part or all five parts of the GED exam? This program only assigns lessons in areas you haven't mastered. In order to be eligible for Maryland GED-i you must be a Maryland resident, at least 16 years old, officially out of school, and able to demonstrate minimum 9th grade skills by pre-testing in math and reading. To obtain additional information, visit www.mdged-i.org. Go to "Getting Started" to complete your application and select Community College of Baltimore County as your testing location.

Student Support Services
Student Support Services assists students to achieve their educational goals. Examples of these services are academic learning support, information and referral, and career advising for Academic Skills Enhancement (ASE) and GED students attending CCBC literacy classes.
