OFS 005 – Microcomputer Keyboarding I

Develop basic touch typing skills using computer-assisted instruction. Topics include alphabetic keyboard skills; top-row numbers and symbols; keyboard skills; numeric keypad skills and skill building and formatting.

Course Objectives:
1. Use the complete microcomputer system keyboard, monitor, disks, disk drives, and printer.
2. Demonstrate proper keyboarding techniques.
3. Key straight-copy alphabetic material for three minutes at a minimum of 25 words a minute with fewer than four errors.
4. Key copy with top-row numbers using proper touch techniques at a minimum of 20 words a minute.
5. Key copy containing frequently used symbols at a minimum of 20 words a minute.
6. Key numeric copy using touch techniques on the ten-key numeric keypad.
7. Use selected microcomputer special function keys.
8. Develop keyboarding composition skills.
9. Demonstrate understanding computer terminology.

OFS 006 – Microcomputer Keyboarding II

Receive computer-assisted instruction in more advanced keyboarding skills. Learn proper formatting techniques for business correspondence, tables and reports. Instruction is provided by a microcomputer software program that is coordinated with textbook instruction to provide an interactive, self pace environment. Keyboarding speed and accuracy is increased and reinforced in each lesson. Topics include word processing and basic formatting; business correspondence; tables; reports; composition and job search skills.

Course Objectives:

4. Key copy with top-row numbers using proper touch techniques at a minimum of 25 words a minute.

7. Use selected microcomputer special function keys.
8. Develop keyboarding composition skills.
9. Demonstrate understanding of computer terminology.
10. Format and edit business correspondence, tables, and reports.
