Creative Arts Center

Celebrating it's 30th year, the Creative Arts Center provides personal enrichment classes in the arts and humanities for students of all ages. Our classes are convenient and fun. A group of talented instructors provide students the opportunity to grow, experiment, and discover the visual, literary, and performing arts.

We emphasize learning as a hands-on experience, and we work to make the student and the instructor partners in the learning process. We value our students as individuals, and strive to make sure each student experiences the pride, wonder, and joy of learning about the arts, their communities, and themselves.

You do not have to be a born artist to take our classes. Beginners and novices are welcome. Many of our students have never picked up a pencil or instrument before coming to our program, and we welcome the change to help them in discovering a new ability. Students with some previous experience will also find the opportunity to improve their skills or increase their abilities in the arts.

Visual Arts for Youth

We offer a variety or classes in drawing, painting, and sculpture for students beginning with age 6. Professional artists and art instructors teach these classes. Cost of supplies is included in course price, although there may be additional materials required for some teen classes, depending on the students’ choice of project.

An effort is made to balance lessons on technique with the opportunity for students to express themselves creatively. Whenever possible art lessons include examples from art history and different world cultures to put the students’ work into a larger context. Always the emphasis is on the student creating his/her own individual creative interpretation of their world, not on quick “formulas” or copying without thought.

Performing Arts for Youth

Students can find a variety of ways to develop and improve their performing skills in our program. Our acting classes feature a variety of age-appropriate activities that both challenge creative minds and provide encouragement in a supportive atmosphere. Our group music classes offer a reasonably priced chance for beginning or additional study on an instrument. Early child music courses offer parents and child the opportunity to learn music together while helping to develop a variety of motor and thinking skills.

Our children’s dance program offers a variety of experiences, from Creative Ballet to Hip Hop. Students have the opportunity to perform each year in our annual student dance recital.

Visual Arts for Adults

Always wanted to draw a portrait, capture flowers in watercolor, or create better pictures? Our adult visual arts classes offer both the beginning and intermediate student a variety of learning opportunities.

Performing Arts for Adults

We offer a variety of experiences for the adult performing arts student. Our classes include adult-friendly beginners level courses in a variety of dance areas from ballet to ballroom. Drama classes include introductory acting, as well as more advance courses in auditioning and improvisation. Music classes vary from beginning piano to music theory.
