Logging In Tutorial

Much of the course content in this course will be presented in tutorials. Complete the "Logging in to WebCT" tutorial below.

1. In the navigation area to the left, click on the Log In to WebCT/BB link.

2. The first time you log in to WebCT/Blackboard, you will enter your user name and your initial password (your 9-digit CCBC ID number). As soon as you click OK, you will be prompted to make a required password change before you can go further. Enter your current password (CCBC ID number) and a new password of your choosing. The new password must be at least 6 characters in length. Make sure it is something you will remember. In the secret question and secret answer blocks, type a question and answer that only you will know. (This will be useful in getting a new password, should you forget yours.) Click Save and you will return to the login screen.

3. Before continuing with the login process, click on the Check Browser button on the right side of the screen. WebCT/Blackboard will run a quick check of your system to make sure it is compliant with CE 6. Also note the information regarding Pop-up Blockers and Java Security Certificate.

4. Returning to the login screen, enter your user name and your new password, and click OK. You will log in to your personal My WebCT/BB page, where you will see all of the courses to which you have access.

5. As soon as you log in to the My WebCT/BB page, click on the My Settings button at the top of the page. Click on Edit Profile and enter your preferred personal email address in the appropriate block. This is the address to which a new password will be mailed, if you should forget yours. (There is also a Change Password tool on the My Settings page.)

6. If you lose/forget your new password, and you have completed steps 2 and 5 above, simply click on Forgot your login information? on the login screen and enter the secret answer you created in step 2. A new password will be sent to the email address you entered in step 5.
