National & State Accreditation
The purpose of accreditation is to assure students a sound, quality
educational experience. All of the programs in the School of Health
professions are accredited by the various non-governmental and
governmental agencies responsible for conducting peer evaluations of
health-care related educational programs.
The CCBC EMT Program is accredited on the national level by the Commission
on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP)
through the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for
the EMS Professions (www.coaemsp.org),
and on the state level by the Maryland Emergency Medical Services
Board which is administered by the lead state EMS agency, the Maryland
Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) (www.miemss.org).
Program accreditation is an ongoing process, as the EMT Program must
constantly monitor its progress in meeting the standards established by
both the CAAHEP/CoAEMSP and the MEMSB through continual quality
improvement and quality assurance evaluations, and yearly reports to the
accrediting agencies.
The CCBC EMT Program is due for re-accreditation in 2007, and is
currently in the process of completing a self-study document to be
submitted to the CAAHEP/CoAEMSP, and preparing for a site visitation by
the accreditors sometime during the spring or summer of 2007.
