Overview:
During this 9-day trip, you will travel to Lima, Peru's capital, where you will have a guided tour including the Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Martin, San Francisco church and an excursion to the Pachamac ruins, a religious site of historical importance. The trip includes a flight to Cuzco, which is the historical capital of the Inca Empire, where you will do more sightseeing before taking a train to see the magnificent ruins of Macchu Picchu. There will be some walking involved which will give you a chance to imagine the life of the Incas. From Cuzco, you will also visit the famous Indian Market, Ollantaytambo and the majestic Ollantay fortress. Your trip will then take you on a flight to Puerta Maldonado, a bustling town in the heart of the Amazon rain forest. You will travel by motorized canoe to your jungle lodge in Tambotaka, where you will learn about the eco projects with which the community is committed. There will be a jungle hike there and more exploration. Your trip will take you back by air to Lima, whre you will visit the National Museum of Anthropology and Archeology, which houses the largest collection of artifacts from the pre-Hispanic cultures of Peru:
