research on nursing. Here are just a few suggestions:

Most of the books in the Health area are in the R section of the
library.The science and biology books are in the Q section.
Use the CCBC Dundalk
Library Catalog to find books & media on health topics. (Hint-
Start with a subject search on your topic:(ex:nursing). If you can't
find anything on your topic, try a keyword search ex:( "pain management"
or diabetes and diet.)

Nursing
Calculators Each calculator, along with examples and formulas,
provides a unique way to review nursing math.
Pharmacology Math requires the nurse to know systems of measurement
(metric, household, apothecary, and avoirdupois) and how to convert
within those systems of measurement.
Nursing Math Gives information on how to translate these doctors and
pharmasist orders into the actions of administering the appropriate
medication and dosage. First, you do the math! There are two math
formulas commonly used in nursing math calculations.

MEDLINEplus: Drug Information - "Information on thousands of
prescription and over-the-counter medications is provided through two
drug resources -- MedMaster, a product of the American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the USP DI Advice for the Patient,
a product of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP)." Browse by generic or
brand name of the drug from an alphabetical index. The results include
warnings and side effects of the drug.
RxList - Searchable by drug name,
keyword, and imprint code (great for identifying pills). Gives the
brand, generic, and category for more than 4,500 drugs in English and
more than 3,000 in Spanish.
SafeMedication.com - Type a
drug name in the search box and find out how a medicine should be used,
special precautions, side effects, and other information. From the
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
BMC pharmacology
An electronic journal of: BioMed Central. Coverage: v.1(2001)-

MEDLINEplus Health Information -
Government directory on health care information for health care
consumers and health professionals. Web links to dictionaries, self-help
groups, sites about doctors and dentists, hospitals, NIH
consumer-related organizations, clearinghouses. Includes database
section on topics such as clinical trials, nutrition, AIDS, cancer, etc.
Adam
Health Illustrated Encyclopedia from Medline includes over 4,000
articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries. It
also contains an extensive library of medical photographs and
illustrations.
HealthWeb - Organized access to
evaluated noncommercial, health-related, Internet-accessible resources.
Provided by the health sciences librarians. Its selectivity, make it a
better starting points for health related Internet sites.
The Virtual Hospital: A Digital Library
of Health Information-Provides educational content for patients, health
care providers, and students interested in the health sciences. It
includes textbooks, pamphlets, and images at both the professional and
lay levels. Maintained by the University of Iowa.

Medical Information--Second Home Edition -limited sections of this
Edition are online for your use. It is a reference for summaries of
diseases, treatments, and other health-related link. Merck Manual--
First Home Edition interactive is also available to you, but some
information will be outdated.
Combined Health Information Database
(CHID) - Gateway for Federal Government database from health
agencies. Provides titles, abstracts, availability for health
information and health education resources. Covers 16 topics, from AIDS
Education to Weight Control.
LOCATORplus - National Library of
Medicine - search for a particular journal title, book, audiovisual, or
report. Holdings records use hypertext to link to another LOCATORplus
record, full-text, or Internet site. Tutorials and a FAQ included.

This site offers free full-text medical journals with links to full text
articles.
