Explore selected internet resources arranged by subjects
via the Directories. Some directories
only include in their databases sites that have been evaluated. Infomine
has a database of over 100,000 academically valuable resources. Librarians'
Index to the internet has weekly updates and has just
redesigned its opening page. Academic
Info is an online subject directory of over 25,000 hand-picked
educational resources for high school and college students as well
as a directory of online degree programs.

Search engines are computer driven
programs that search previously compiled databases. Robots called
"spiders" collect large numbers of web sites into these databases. Google
, Yahoo and Ask
are the major search engines but there are others.

Invisible web: the portion of the Web that is hidden from search
engines because it requires a subscription or password. Also,
files which are not primarily HTML-based are generally not
accessible to search engines.
