The Arena Players Stage "Having Our Say" at CCBC
The Guest Artist Committee in association with the Book Bridge Project
of CCBC Catonsville is bringing to the stage The Arena Players, the
country's oldest continuously operating African-American regional
theater, as they present Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100
Years. History buffs will delight in the true story of Sadie and Bessie,
African-American siblings who lived through 100 years of American
history and culture beginning in the 1890s.
Founded in 1952, The Arena Players give opportunities to
African-American actors, playwrights and technicians and provide
compelling, provocative entertainment for theater fans. Performance
dates are Friday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m.; and
Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general audiences, $3 for
senior adults, children, and students with ID, and $1 for CCBC students
and staff. All performances will take place in the Fine & Performing
Arts Center Theatre (Q Building).
The Book Bridge Project is an endeavor organized by the faculty of CCBC
Catonsville as a college and community project to bring Baltimore County
residents and the college-wide community together in a shared learning
experience through discussing contemporary issues as characterized in
pre-selected books. The Guest Artist Committee is a Student Life-funded
club dedicated to providing cultural, educational and social enrichment
to the college community.
