Fine and Performing Arts

The Wild Zappers (a Deaf Dance Theatre Company)
Friday, Nov. 7, 8 p.m.
CCBC Catonsville, Fine and Performing Arts Center Theatre (Q Building).
$7 - general admission; $5 - senior adults and children; $2 - CCBC students and staff. Tickets are available in “J” building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

The Wild Zappers combine jazz, funk and hip-hop dance styles, American Sign Language and popular music to create an uplifting and inspiring program that has won high accolades and loyal fans throughout the world. Their interactive school programs illustrate the relationships between dance movements, counting and visual cues, and provide a lively introduction to sign language, effectively building bridges between the deaf and hearing communities.

Evening of Jazz featuring Victor Williams and True Spirit

CCBC Dundalk, College Community Theater. $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

The Blue Guardians present their fourth annual scholarship concert, featuring Victor Williams, the founding member of True Spirit. Williams has recorded, played and toured with the likes of George Duke, Celine Dion and many more. He has assembled a group of studio musicians with similar credentials to perform for this benefit.

Spotlight Speakers Series: Tom Martinez, “Inside the Brotherhood of Hate”

Tom Martinez brings the story of his struggle with good and evil to the CCBC Essex campus. Martinez spent his twenties as a member of the Ku Klux Klan and various other hate groups involved in crimes such as counterfeiting, violent armed robbery, bombings, and cold-blooded murder. Eventually, he realized that his hate had carried him too far and he became an informant for the FBI. His autobiography, Brotherhood of Murder, has been hailed as an inside view of the subculture of hate and has been turned into a Showtime Original Picture.

After a brief stop at the Visitors Center, stroll to the Terrace Restaurant to enjoy the yuletide buffet (included). Then, it's off to explore the gardens at your own pace. Thousands of brilliant poinsettias, towering Christmas trees and fragrant flowers bloom in the Conservatory’s Crystal Palace. The Music Room features a festive tableau and daily concerts fill the Ballroom with music. The floral Christmas extravaganza with holiday music, illuminated “dancing” fountains, and a display of 400,000 Christmas lights is an annual favorite.
