Baltimore County, Md. – The Community College of Baltimore

Dyson, a Georgetown University professor of Theology, English and
African Studies, will discuss his controversial book, “Come Hell or High
Water,” on the political and racial fallout from Hurricane Katrina. This
book will be the subject of a yearlong discussion by CCBC students and
faculty as part of the CCBC Community Book Connection.
Essence magazine has named Dyson in both its “40 most inspiring
African-Americans “ and “100 most influential Black Americans” lists.
The Philadelphia Weekly contends that Dyson “is reshaping what it
means to be a public intellectual by becoming the most visible black
academic of his time.”
A reception with the speaker will follow the presentation. For
additional information, contact the CCBC Essex Office of Student Life at
410-780-6572. This program is free and open to the public; however,
tickets are required. Call the CCBC Box Office at 410-780-6369 for your
