Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre announces its 36th season at CCBC Essex
Nunsense, Love, Sex and the IRS, Willy Wonka Jr., Urinetown: The Musical and Proof

Baltimore County, Md. – It’s mostly laughs this summer for Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. Season subscriptions for the two Mainstage and two Cabaret Theatre productions are available for $56 for adults and $48 for seniors and CCBC Alumni Association members.

Individual tickets for “Nunsense” and “Urinetown: The Musical” on the Mainstage are $18 for adults, $16 for senior adults and CCBC Alumni Association members, and $12 for children 12 and under. Individual tickets for “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.” and “Proof” in the Cabaret Theatre are $15 for adults and $13 for senior adults and CCBC Alumni Association members. Tickets for “Willy Wonka, Jr.” are $7 each. For tickets and information, call the CCBC Box Office between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at 410-780-6369. The CCBC Box Office is open two hours before each production for ticket sales.

Cockpit’s season opens with “Nunsense," an uproarious romp about the trials and tribulations of the Little Sisters of Hoboken coping with the accidental poisonings of 52 of their members by their cook, Sister Rachael, Ray of Light with her tainted vichyssoise. How will they pay for the funerals? “Nunsense,” scripted by Dan Goggin, is directed by Greg Dorsey, runs at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 13, 14, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28, and 3 p.m. Sunday June 15, 22 and 29 on the Mainstage in the B Building.

Directed by Jason Crawford, “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.” by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Millmore will be performed 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 20, 21, 27 and 28 and 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22 and 29 in the Cabaret Theatre on the second floor of the B Building. This zany frolic shows that trying to fool the Internal Revenue Service can have unexpected consequences.

Do you have the "Golden Ticket?" Find out who does when you attend the Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre Court Jesters production of “Willy Wonka Jr.” Performances will be given 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 11, 12, 18, 19; 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 13, 19, 20 and 11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 15, 16, 17 in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137). Tickets for all seats are only $7 each. Amanda Dickson and Diane Smith co-direct this children’s production.

Urinetown: The Musical” is an award-winning satirical musical comedy that pokes fun at almost everything including itself. Rob Oppel will direct this production which will be given at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 18, 19, 25, 26, 31 and August 1, 2 and 3 p.m., Sundays, July 20, 26 and August 3 on the Mainstage in the B Building.

David Auburn’s “Proof” comes to the Cabaret stage 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 25, 26 and August 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Sundays, July 26 and August 3. Explore the world of a young woman who spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Did she inherit his genius or his madness? Sherrionne Brown directs this 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning drama.

For more than 30 years, Cockpit in Court has been a program of the college, providing high-quality live theatre experiences for the entire family at affordable prices. James Hunnicutt, a veteran Cockpit actor and director, is serving as Managing Director for Cockpit in Court this summer.

All performances of Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre are held on the Mainstage in the B Building Theatre, in the Cabaret Theatre (Cockpit in Court’s in-the-round venue, located on the second floor of the B Building) or in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) on the campus of The Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. CCBC is a wheelchair accessible facility. With advance notice, audio description for the visually impaired may be arranged. Patrons requiring special accommodations are urged to notify the Box Office at least two weeks in advance at 410-780-6369.
