CCBC presents a myriad of events during May 2008
Baltimore County, Md. – The Community College of Baltimore County hosts a number of special events during May 2008. Many of these events, held on its three main campuses, are free and open to the public.
May 2
Between jobs? Stymied in your current career? Getting ready to graduate? Plan to attend Job Fair ‘08 sponsored by Career Development Services and Student Employment at CCBC Essex 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday, May 2 in the D Building (Athletic and Wellness Center) on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Free and open to job seekers and the public. Music at CCBC presents the CCBC Chamber Singers, under the direction of CCBC faculty member Monica Otal, 12:20 p.m. Friday, May 2 in the E Building Recital Hall on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Blvd. For additional information, contact Monica Otal at 410-780-6726. Free and open to the public.

Dundalk Community Theatre presents the Baltimore community theater premiere of the six-time Tony award winning musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 2 -3 and 9 -10 and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4 and 11 in the K Building Theater at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road. Get ready to raise your skirts and bob your hair as we follow small-town Millie Dillmount in her journey to New York City to marry for money instead of love. The musical is filled with colorful characters, madcap adventures, dancing stenographers and the glamour and high life of Manhattan.
Tickets are $21 general admission, $18 for senior adults and $13 for students and children 12 years old and under. Tickets are available through the CCBC Box Office at 410-780-6369.

The CCBC Chamber Singers, under the direction of CCBC faculty member Monica Otal, presents its Spring Choral Concert 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3 in the Building E Recital Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. The ensemble will perform a program of varied works from Baroque to Broadway. Children’s Playhouse of Maryland, Inc., in residence at CCBC Essex, presents A Pocketful of Rhymes 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4 and 10-11, and 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Monday, May 5 and 12 in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

Music at CCBC’s Music Forum presents its Honors Recital 12:20 p.m. Friday, May 9 in the E Building Recital Hall, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. The final Music Forum of the semester, this recital showcases the musical accomplishments of select students and faculty. The Gallery at CCBC Catonsville hosts a Student Art Exhibition featuring painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, interior design and digital by students in the Institute of Art, Design and Interactive Media Friday, May 9 through May 16 in the Q Building on the Catonsville campus, 800 S. CCBC’s Senior Star Showcase performs Once Upon a Mattress 8 p.m. Friday, May 16; 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 17 -18 and 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 in the B Building Theatre on the Essex campus, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Join us for an evening of laughter that highlights the comedic talents of our senior thespians!

Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra, in residence at CCBC Catonsville, presents its Spring Concert 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, Building Q Theatre at CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road. The School of Health Professions hosts its annual Student Recognition Ceremony for students completing degree and certificate programs 10 a.m. – noon Friday, May 23 in the CCBC Essex Athletic and Wellness Facility (D Building), CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Congressman John Sarbanes is the Keynote speaker.

Senior Star Showcase at CCBC is one of the hosts for Senior Theatre USA’s “Performance Festival ‘08” to be held Tuesday through Sunday, June 10-15 at UMBC, 1000 Hilltop Circle in Catonsville. Presented by Senior Theatre USA, Erickson Retirement Communities, Erickson School at UMBC, CCBC and UMBC, the events features workshops and performances by senior thespians from all over the world.
