CCBC 2007 graduate awarded scholarships and grants to aid in academic pursuits Rosedale resident receives more than $7,000 in aid
Baltimore, Md. – Frank Alford, a Rosedale, Md. resident and 2007 graduate from the Community College of Baltimore County, has received more than $7,000 to assist in his educational pursuits at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Most notably, Alford received a $2,500 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship that’s renewable for a second year.
Alford received his associate degree from CCBC in General Studies. While at the college he maintained a 4.0 grade point average and completed the Honor’s Program at the Essex campus. He was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Honor’s society for community college students.
Alford began his studies at UMBC this spring where he plans to receive his bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Grant and scholarships funds received so far exceed $7,000, with the possibility of other funding still on the horizon.
“To say that I’m excited about the funding I’ve received so far is an understatement,” said Alford. “I’m not sure I would have been afforded these scholarship opportunities if it had not been for CCBC. CCBC gave me the confidence and the motivation to excel academically.”
