Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown scheduled to visit CCBC Catonsville Feb. 25
Campus tour and talk with students on the agenda

Baltimore, Md. - The Community College of Baltimore County will welcome Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown to its Catonsville campus 10 – 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25. Planned activities include a meeting with CCBC trustees, President Sandra Kurtinitis and senior staff, as well as a mini tour and an opportunity to talk to students. The Lt. Governor is interested in the college's plan for a new library on its Catonsville campus, which received funding under the governor’s proposed FY’09 Capital Budget.

“We are delighted to have the Lt. Governor visit our Catonsville campus,” said CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis. “The governor and his administration have been very supportive of Maryland community colleges. At CCBC, we appreciate the governor’s commitment to increasing the capital budget for community colleges this year. That support means that our CCBC Catonsville library is a step closer to becoming a reality.”

The CCBC Catonsville library is one of 13 capital projects which received funding under Governor O’Malley’s proposed FY 09 Capital Budget. Total proposed funding for community college capital projects across the state increased by $21 million this year, rising from $60 million in fiscal year 2008 to $81 million for fiscal year 2009.

The CCBC Catonsville library is presently in the design phase. The current design is for a three-story, “green” building which comprises approximately 75,000 square feet. In addition to the actual library, the building will house classrooms, a Student Success Center and a Cyber-Cafe.
