Children’s Playhouse of Maryland presents 'Peter Pan' at CCBC Essex
1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16; 3 p.m. March 15

Baltimore County, Md. – Bradley Bowers and Jamie Watson star in the upcoming Children’s Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. production of Peter Pan 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, 8-9, and 15-16 with an additional 3 p.m. performance on March 15 in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) on the Essex campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. Tickets, which are $10 for all seats, are available from the CCBC Box Office at 410-780-6369 or on-site in the J Building before each performance.

Based on J. M. Barrie’s stage play, Peter Pan tells the story of a boy “who wouldn’t grow up” and his encounter with the Darling family children, “Wendy, John and Michael.” It recounts the exploits of Peter and his troupe of “Lost Boys and Girls” as they struggle with the nefarious “Captain Hook” and his band of pirates in a magical place called Neverland. Diane Smith directs the play. Julie Parrish serves as musical director, and Amanda Dickson is choreographer.

Bradley Bowers of Towson, who plays Peter Pan, was recently cast in a featured role in the off-Broadway production of Crossing Brooklyn. He also played young Tarzan in the Broadway production of Tarzan. Jamie Watson of Baltimore (Wendy), Matthew Demetrides of Baltimore (John) and Jason Bratcher of Baldwin (Michael) are the Darling family children. Katie Dickson of Nottingham is cast as Nana. Mike Delaney of Parkville and Colleen Witowski of Parkville play “Mr. and Mrs. Darling.” Neena Boyle of Pasadena and Melvin Penn of Baltimore are cast as “Captain Hook” and his sidekick “Smee.” Other featured players are: Kaya Potler of Parkville (Crocodile/Lost Boy), Arianna Maggard of Middle River (Tiger Lily), and Justin Foote of Timonium (Storyteller).

The Children’s Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, is a non-profit community theatre organization providing training in acting and theatre production to those 18 years and younger. Diane Smith is the organization’s executive director. CPM program initiatives include a summer camp program and discounted tickets for the underprivileged. CPM conducts fundraising events throughout the year to help keep its ticket prices at a rate ($10 each) that allows children’s theatre to be accessible to the community.
