Tim Williams CCBC alumnus
As a WJZ-TV (Channel 13) on-air personality with
diverse duties, Tim Williams forecasts the weather, reports on
news and anchors the weekend morning news with Sharon Lee.
But
long before he came to WJZ-TV, the Baltimore native attended CCBC.
Uncovering the 'gift of gab' In high
school, Tim’s career interests included drafting and retail, but
talking seemed to be his biggest interest. “I was the kid who was
always talking in class,” he admits. But it was this “gift of
gab,” and a little help from CCBC, that propelled him toward a
successful career in broadcasting.
When Tim initially
decided to pursue a drafting career, he was turned down by his
school of choice because he lacked a full semester of college
credits. Enter CCBC.
“Going to Catonsville was a
‘no-brainer.' It was convenient, inexpensive, and it gave me the
opportunity to decide what career I really wanted to follow.” Tim
credits this experience with sparking his interest in
broadcasting. Though he came to CCBC with another goal in mind,
looking back now he says, “Everything there seemed to drive me to communications
as a career.”
Making a smooth transition After building a solid
foundation at CCBC, Tim easily transferred his credits to Towson
University and went on to earn a B.A. in Mass Communications. The
rest, as they say in the business, is broadcasting history.
