Annually in August, the Developmental Education Advisory Committee plans a day-long symposium in which faculty and staff from each campus can present to each other the new pedagogies and innovations being used in CCBC's developmental offerings. Major presentations related to Reading, Writing, and Math are held as well as more general sessions that may be of interest to all.Major outside speakers are often featured. Since 2001 CCBC has dedicated a day annually within its operational and academic calendar for a college-wide professional development conference for all faculty and staff. During this day no classes are held and normal college services are suspended to afford every employee the opportunity to attend. The conference is planned by the CCBC Professional Development Team. Themes and workshops change each year. For information about typical conference offerings, see the program brochure for the previous year. The program brochure for the current year will be distributed in early May via the InnerLoop and other means.

CCBC's Fall Focus, the kick-off to each academic year, is held in the morning prior to the start of the fall semester. Convened by the President, the program may feature guest- and/or internal-presenters. It is typically videotaped and placed on the InnerLoop. The Fall Focus also celebrates faculty promotions conferred the previous spring. For more information, see the current professional development calendar.
