PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE FOR INITIAL YEAR

Due to the timeframe under which this plan was written and approved, the implementation period for the first year will be foreshortened. For this reason, two time lines are being provided: the first year of implementation of this plan and later years when the structure is fully functioning. It is estimated that the plan will be fully functioning in the 2000-2001 academic year, although major components can be put in place quickly for a successful 1999-2000 schedule.

TIME LINE FOR INITIAL YEAR OF IMPLEMENTATION

 

June 1999

  

  • Plan draft sent to Chancellor's Cabinet for approval and other approval routes deemed appropriate

  • Cabinet setting of priorities for 1999 - 2000 year

 

July 1999

 

  • Members of the Professional Development Team (PDT) appointed, selected or designated

  • PDT members begin collecting information about 1999 - 2000 offerings

 

August 1999

 

  • Tentative plans made for each campus and each cabinet area

  • PDT begins to have regular coordination meetings

  • College and campus governance structures contacted regarding appointees to the Professional Development Advisory Council (PDAC)

 

September and October 1999

 

  • Planning calendar completed for the 1999 - 2000 year

 

November 1999

  • Calendar of offerings communicated to CCBC faculty and staff, web site fully operational

 

December 1999

  • PDAC convened, meets with PDT and sets meeting schedule for the year

 

January and February 2000

 

  • PDAC recommends "mid-course correction" as necessary and possible to fill in identified gaps in programming

 

Spring 2000

  • PDAC and PDT work through guideline suggestions and other recommendations made in this plan

  • Guidelines acted upon by Chancellor's Cabinet

  • Goals and objectives of faculty and staff communicated to PDT and PDAC in summary form for programming implementation analysis

April 2000

 

 

  • Chancellor's Cabinet planning priorities communicated to PDT

 

  • Overarching themes set for next two to three years

 

May and June 2000

 

   

  • Budgetary parameters given to PDT and PDAC by Cabinet

  • Evaluative reports and summaries completed by PDT and PDAC

  • Planning begins for next academic year
