Fall Focus -- This kickoff to the academic year features an informational session conducted by President Kurtinitis as well as the celebration of faculty who have been recently promoted. In 2008, topical break-out sessions will follow the general session with a box lunch to conclude this event. This year's theme is "Launching the Next 50 Years." A continental breakfast will precede the general session. Reservations are not requested; however, a lunch ticket, obtained during the general session, will be necessary for lunch. Developmental Education Symposium -- Developmental Education: It is Rocket Science! This year's symposium will feature Dr. Tom Bailey, director of the Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Teachers College, Columbia, as keynote speaker. The symposium will also feature a panel discussion on Developmental Education: Gate or Path? In the afternoon, three large breakouts will be held - one for faculty of English, reading, and ESOL - to explore their commonalities, another for developmental math faculty to review recent institutional research in developmental math; and a third to explore future directions for instructional research at CCBC. To reserve a place, contact Denise Richardson at drichardson2@ccbcmd.edu letting her know which breakout you will attend in the afternoon and if you will need a lunch reservation.

10 Danger Zones Supervisory Training – A ten-week training program for supervisors at all levels stressing various legal issues that supervisors face today. One cohort meets on Wednesday mornings while the other meets on Thursday afternoons. Choose the one that best suits your schedule. To enroll, contact Kelly Lemons at klemons@ccbcmd.edu.
