Arrest made in connection with CCBC Essex burglary
Recognition goes to Public Safety and Plant Operations staff for teamwork.
4/22/06

As a result of an ongoing investigation into a rash of vandalism and thefts from offices on the Essex campus, on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Public Safety apprehended a suspect on the third floor of the E building. Baltimore County Police responded and the suspect was charged with burglary. In the suspect's possession were items reported stolen earlier in the week.

Based on the circumstances and timing of other recent incidents on campus, we believe this should help to resolve the outstanding issues of breaking and entering. It should be recognized that this arrest may not have occurred without the proactive coordination and quick thinking of Public Safety and assistance of Plant Operations, who all teamed to successfully and safely respond to this situation.

This incident should serve as a reminder that preventing campus crime is a shared responsibility between CCBC and all members of the college community.

PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY TIPS

  • Do not leave offices open and unattended
  • Do not leave valuables unsecured
  • Do not leave keys in your "cubby" or other hiding places
  • Lock your office door whenever you leave, even if you're just going out for a minute
  • Look out for suspicious activity such as those lingering around without any specific purpose
