Honda Civic Vehicle Break-ins Alert Follow up
Dear Colleagues:
Last November a rash of vehicle break-ins and one motor vehicle theft
occurred on the Essex campus. On Wednesday, April 13th, 2005 another
Honda Civic was reported stolen from the Essex campus, Lot #6, between
10:50 am and 2:50 pm. It should be noted that a pattern has developed
where most of these incidents specifically involve Honda Civics.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), Honda Civics
are ranked in the top 10 of stolen vehicles in nearly every state in
America.
To prevent thefts, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) recommends
"Layered Protection." The more layers of protection you have on your
vehicle, the more difficult it is to steal. The number of layers your
vehicle needs varies depending on your vehicle and geographic location.
Your budget and personal preferences should determine which anti-theft
device is best for you. The reference to this helpful crime prevention
information has been provided for your information:
http://www.nicb.com/rootlinks/top10bystate.cfm.
Additionally, from 2000-2004 there have only been three motor vehicle
thefts on all CCBC campuses. In order to maintain this excellent safety
record, Public Safety seeks the support and assistance of the entire
college community by reviewing and being aware of this information and
reporting any criminal or suspicious activity to Public Safety.
