Steps for Success
Students who intend to apply for admission to one of the School of Health Professions programs at CCBC should follow these steps, in order.
NOTE: The RN and PN seat fee will become effective for students admitted after January 1, 2010. Applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable $200 fee to accept their offer of admission and reserve their space in the RN programs or the PN program. The fee will be applied to the first semester program charges. Students who accept the seat and then do not attend the program will not be eligible for a refund of the fee. The seat fee will become effective for all other SHP programs for students admitted by 2011.

STEP 1:
|
Apply for admission to CCBC. You may apply on-line or in person at any CCBC campus or extension center.

STEP 2:
|
Participate in assessment testing, if necessary.

STEP 3:
|
See a counselor to interpret the assessment testing results and plan a course of study, or make an appointment with a Case Managers, Ms. Gwen Jones (Nursing/Essex) 443-840-2100, Charles Martino (Essex) 443-840-1037, or Gwyn Degner (Catonsville) 443-840-4352.

STEP 4:
|
Complete all developmental courses as indicated by the results of the assessment testing.
If you are applying to a nursing or to the Dental program, you must participate in pre-admission testing as well. The testing is administered by the Nursing Department. Visit Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) to pay for and to schedule testing dates and times. The fee for the test is approx. $45.00, paid by credit card.

STEP 5:

Enroll in and complete appropriate pre-requisite and general education courses. For program specific details click here.

STEP 6:
|
Apply for admission to your program of choice. THERE ARE NOW TWO (2) SEPERATE School of Health Professions ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONS.
There is a $15.00 non-refundable application fee for the School of Health Professions Admissions application. Effective January 2010 - the Selective Admissions Application fee is $20.
Applicants should pay the fee to and submit the application to the Bursar's office on any campus. The School of Health Professions Admissions Office application is available:

You may submit your application at any time prior to the deadline. Applications recieved after the deadline will not be processed. All materials must be in your folder by the deadline, including copies of all external transcripts, CLEP scores, AP scores, evaluations of international transcripts, credit-by-exam scores, etc.
Be aware that as you transfer from school to school, your credits tansfer, but not your grades. You must submit the official transcript from every institution from which you intend to use courses for your program to the School of Health Professions Admissions Office. The SHP Admissions Office is not staffed to be able to search for your external transcripts in the Records & Registration Office or on another campus. STEP 7:

Depending on the program, you may only be able to apply at one campus and to one program at a time.

STEP 8:
|
Initial Contact. Every applicant will receive a post card when the application folder is received. The card states that your application is complete, or that transcripts or grades are missing.

STEP 9:
|
Current Address. It is the responsiblity of the student to determine that both the Office of Records & Registration and the Office of Selective Admissions have a current name, address, and phone number. If you have a name change, move, or change your phone number, we will not be able to contact you. The Office of Records & Registration does not notify us of recent name, address or phone changes.

STEP 10:
|
Status Letters. Letters will be mailed out approximately 8 weekes after the application deadline. All letters are mailed out on the same day for each program respectively. NO ONE receives advance notice of status.

STEP 11:
|
Wait List. If you are placed on the wait list, you may not receive final word about your status until the end of the current semester. Wait lists are not "rolled over" to the next semester. If you are wait-listed and then not accepted due to availability of seats, you must submit a new application for the next semester.

STEP 12:
|
Denied Admission. If you are not accepted for admision, you must submit a new application for the next admission cycle. Applications are not "rolled over" to the next semester. However, your application folder will be retained for one year after the inital application, consequently, external transcripts and test scores will be stored for you.
