THE LEARNING ASSISTANCE CENTER
The Learning Assistance Center, in K201A, is a computer lab that is open
to students with documented disabilities and students who are enrolled
in the SPARK program.
The available assistive technology includes:
JAWS: computer screen reading software for blind students
Zoomtext: enlarges text and reads it aloud
Dragon Naturally Speaking: voice to text software
Kurzweil 3000: scans text to the screen and reads it aloud.
The Center also includes two closed circuit tv’s for text enlargement.
Individual help is available for internet research and editing papers.
The Learning Assistance Center also oversees ordering of textbooks on
CDs from publishers for students with visual and reading disabilities,
the installation of assistive technology in campus labs as needed, and
the conversion of class notes, handouts and tests to appropriate formats.
