POLICIES OF THE TESTING CENTER
Assessment and Placement tests are taken in the Testing Center, please call 410-455-6946 or click here for location and times.
-
Students need to make appointments for Instructional Testing. Instructional testing includes make-up exams, exams for distance learning courses such as www courses, telecourses, and Non-CCBC exams.
-
The instructors and their students should discuss and arrange test dates according to the Testing Center hours. The student must call the center to schedule an appointment. Please note: There may be up to an hour wait for a seat in the testing center during peak periods for those without an appointment.
-
Students will not be admitted into the Testing Area without a current picture ID (School or Government issued).
-
Students MUST know the instructor's first and last name, the course, section and the test number for the exam to be administered. Tests will not be administered without the above information.
-
Only people actively taking a test are permitted in the Testing Centers. Children and/or other people accompanying the test taker must wait in the lobby of K Building. We cannot be responsible for children, and we discourage leaving them unattended at any time.
-
Students taking instructional tests are not permitted to leave the Testing Area during the test for any reason.
-
The instructor, or designated person (not the student), is responsible for delivering and picking up the tests. If the instructor requests that we mail completed tests we are not responsible for the security of these tests once they leave the Testing Center.
-
Instructors should complete a Proctored Testing Request Form and submit the COMPLETED form with the test(s) and all the required materials. This is now a standard blue form. Please include a copy of your roster if giving an exam to numerous students. NOTE: WE WILL NOT ADMINISTER A TEST FOR AN ENTIRE CLASS IN ONE SITTING.
-
All tests are assumed to be closed-book and closed-notes unless otherwise specified on the Proctored Testing Request form.
-
Tobacco products, food, drink, and chewing gum are not allowed in the Testing Center.
-
Suspicion of academic dishonesty of any kind will be reported to a student's instructor. We are not the enforcers of college honor policy nor arbitrators in such matters. Any evidence of suspected academic dishonesty will be collected and sent to a student's instructor, who will make any disciplinary decisions.
-
All scrap paper and worksheets used by the student along with the test and answer sheets will be collected at the end of the test.
-
Note-takers for students with special testing needs require an appointment and must be cleared through the Catonsville Note-taker/Reader/Tutor service. Students who would like the services of a note-taker should first see an advisor in the Counseling Center (410 455 4382); from there they will be directed to the N.R.T. office (410 455 4750 or 410 455 4927).
-
Computers with Microsoft programs may be available for students to use, if required, for a test. Instructors should call the Testing Center to arrange this type of testing.
