BRINGING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTO THE OPEN!
Many women in abusive relationships blame themselves for saying or doing
something to cause the violence. This mistaken sense of responsibility
for someone else's violence is a common system among domestic abuse
victims, as is their response of keeping quiet.
A woman’s emotional responses to battering are complex. Researchers
suggest that a woman in an abusive relationship typically needs help to
begin the recovery and healing process. Help many come from close
friends or family members or from a physician alert to her situation.
Abuse is a health and survival issue. A woman should consider her
physician one of the many resources available to help her identify
safer, healthier options.
