Become a Tutor

Tutors play a vital role in the Student Success Center. They are knowledgeable, reliable, patient, positive and hard-working. They not only work with students to help them become independent learners, master content material, and employ good study skills but they also assist in the day-to-day operations of the Student Success Center.  

Requirements

  • Content competency:  a 4.0 in the courses to be tutored or other proof of content ability deemed appropriate by a content instructor.

  • Recommendations from instructor of subject to be tutored.

  • A competitive GPA: 3.5 or higher is preferred, but 3.0 is required.

  • Sophomore standing is preferred, but those who have completed 10 credits at the college level will be considered.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.

  • Sensitivity, understanding and the ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs.

  • A greater and more in-depth understanding of the subject area and how to teach it.

  • Real Experience working with individuals from various countries, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Improved communication skill
