Community College of Baltimore County has partnered with Baltimore County to distribute 16,000 free, rapid at-home COVID-19 test kits to the college’s students, faculty and staff.

During the first week of February, CCBC distributed nearly 6,000 COVID-19 test kits across its six campuses and extension centers. The college will continue to distribute test kits at additional events, while supplies last, to provide students, faculty and staff with easy access to rapid tests. The CCBC community can also obtain the rapid at-home test kits from the Campus Director’s office, Public Safety and Student Life offices on each campus. College ID is required for pick up.

“We are proud to partner with Baltimore County to be able to offer rapid COVID-19 test kits to the CCBC community,” said Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis, President of CCBC. “Testing is an important part of our COVID-19 mitigation and prevention program, and the at-home test kits are a convenient way for our community to be tested and stay safe.”

Baltimore County and CCBC split the cost of the 16,000 test kits, each contributing more than $70,000 for this effort.

CCBC Psychology major Shila Marshall was able to pick up two of the at-home COVID-19 test kits on campus.

“Test kits have been hard to find, and my family had been looking for some to have on hand in case we needed to test,” said Marshall. “I’m thankful to CCBC for giving out the test kits, because if a student is not feeling well, then they now have the option to test and stay home if positive. This reduces the risk of exposing other students and faculty to the virus.”
