Office of Grant Development

Faculty funding assistance

The Office of Grants Development (OGD) helps CCBC faculty and staff secure public funding at every stage of the process—whether at the beginning with a proposal to pitch, or at the end with final reporting.

For almost 20 years, the staff of the Office of Grants Development has been privileged to bring a wide variety of public funding to the college. We stay current on trends, regulations and emerging funding priorities to support strategic investment at CCBC. We assist with:

  • Identifying funding opportunities
  • Proposal development, including drafting, budgeting, and institutional approvals.
  • Submitting proposals through our internal Governance Committee and serve as liaison with campus departments.
  • Managing grants throughout the award lifecycle.
  • Training, office hours, and consultations to strengthen grant-writing capacity.

Examples of current funding

Through a grant-supported initiative, CCBC is expanding access to affordable training for Peer Recovery Support Specialists and behavioral health paraprofessionals to address the growing impact of substance use disorders on families and communities. The program provides structured training pathways that combine online coursework, experiential learning, and paid apprenticeship opportunities aligned with industry certification standards. Participants gain the skills to support children, youth, and families affected by substance use, with a strong emphasis on harm reduction, cultural competence, and real-world application. This effort strengthens Maryland’s behavioral health workforce by creating accessible, career-focused pathways into high-demand roles.

Through a coordinated campus-wide initiative, CCBC is addressing student food insecurity by expanding access to essential resources such as food pantries, SNAP enrollment support, and community-based programs. The college has established a Hunger Task Force and strategic partnership to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect students to critical services that support their academic success and well-being. Students benefit from hands-on programs including community gardens, cooking demonstrations, and awareness events that promote healthy, sustainable food practices. By combining direct support, outreach, and education, CCBC is creating a more equitable environment where students can thrive without the burden of basic needs insecurity.

Through funding from the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling, CCBC is expanding access to education, prevention, and workforce training focused on gambling-related harm. The program supports the development of specialized training and community outreach to equip professionals with the skills to identify and address problem gambling. Participants receive targeted instruction that integrates behavioral health strategies, early intervention, and culturally responsive practices. This initiative strengthens Maryland’s capacity to respond to gambling-related challenges while promoting awareness, prevention, and recovery support.

Through a grant-supported initiative, CCBC is expanding access to faculty-led undergraduate research opportunities to strengthen student success in STEM fields, particularly for women and underrepresented students. The program introduces a sequence of research-based courses and hands-on lab experiences that build critical thinking, scientific identity, and real-world skills. Students gain mentorship, internship opportunities, and pathways to present research, improving retention, graduation, and transfer outcomes to four-year institutions. By integrating research into the community college experience, CCBC is building a stronger, more diverse pipeline for Maryland’s growing science and technology workforce.
