Strong reading skills are a critical milestone for education. Encourage long-term academic achievement from elementary school to college by sparking a child's joy, enthusiasm, and reading proficiency by Grade 3. Support reading awareness at the CCBC 'It Takes A Village' Storytime Event.

  • CCBC student volunteers will read stories to the children.
  • Information is available to assist children’s efforts to read at home.
  • Fun stations with board games, giveaways, and children’s crafts while supplies last.

Children, families, caregivers, educators, and organizations in the local community are welcome to attend. Special guest appearance by Dr. Mama Deborah Fakunle, a Baltimore-area storyteller who performs in the African-griot tradition. This event is free and open to the public.
