Gender roles in postwar America

Join Abdul Ali for a virtual presentation exploring “The Briar Club” through the sociopolitical context of the 1950s. We will explore McCarthyism and changing gender roles in postwar America. Ali will also consider connections between the novel’s themes and contemporary debates surrounding academic freedom, gender and reproductive rights.
