Community College of Baltimore County is hosting the dedication and unveiling ceremony of the Alvin and Mary Lloyd College Center at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, March 21 at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road.

The Lloyds have been staunch supporters of CCBC and the Dundalk community for more than five decades. Their philanthropic contributions to the college and community span generations and have paved the way for thousands of CCBC students, faculty and staff to achieve educational success – not only through scholarships but through program expansion and community engagement.

Alvin Lloyd and his late wife Mary’s philanthropic support of over $1 million since the late 1970s has opened the doors of education for many in the Dundalk community. Additionally, the Lloyd family established two academic scholarships, the Marie Lloyd/Ed Lamon Scholarship and the Mary E. Lloyd Nursing Scholarship at CCBC Dundalk, honoring the memory of his daughter and wife.

“Al’s generosity and passion for CCBC, the Dundalk community and our students has no limits,” said CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis. “His gifts and donations have changed thousands of students’ lives by facilitating career and professional opportunities. It is an honor for us to name the CCBC Dundalk College Community Center the Alvin and Mary Lloyd College Center.”

Lloyd is currently a member of the CCBC Foundation – Dundalk Committee and a member of the college’s Legacy Society – the college’s Planned Giving program where donors make gifts such as bequests and/or charitable gift annuities to build upon the financial future of CCBC. His planned gift will allow faculty and staff to award additional scholarships for Dundalk campus programs, purchase needed equipment, expand marketing and continue to build on its community outreach.
