CCBC Performing Arts presents CCBC Dance Company’s 50th Anniversary Dance Concert

In celebration of the 50th anniversary season, the spring concert will feature new works by guest artist Alvin Mayes, as well as CCBC alum and artist in residence Peter Pucci.


Baltimore County, Md. (April 4, 2024) – Community College of Baltimore County Performing Arts presents CCBC Dance Company’s 50th Anniversary Dance Concert May 2 & 4. Performances will be held in the Center for the Arts Theatre, CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary season, the spring concert will feature new works by guest artist Alvin Mayes, as well as CCBC alum and artist in residence Peter Pucci. The concert will also include the restaging of "A Slip of the Tongue" by Leslie Tinios, former artistic director of Dimensional Dance Media.

In residence at CCBC Essex, the CCBC Dance Company is under the artistic direction of Melinda Blomquist and associate director Kristi Schaffner. The CCBC Dance Company was founded at Essex Community College in 1974 under the name Dimensional Dance Media by faculty member Carole Drake Cascio. In honor of her work and legacy, the college recently named the renovated dance studios in the Wellness Center at CCBC Essex the Carole Drake Cascio Dance Studios (East and West).

The CCBC Dance Company is known for holding main stage performances in the fall and spring, featuring choreography by CCBC faculty and various guest artists. The Company is also involved in community outreach with local schools, providing special performances as well as master classes and lectures/demonstrations. CCBC is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance.

Performance times include:

  • 11:10 a.m. Thursday, May 2
  • 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4

Tickets are $10 general admission; $5 students, seniors, CCBC faculty and staff; and free for currently enrolled CCBC students with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787), online at www.ccbctickets.com or at the door one hour prior to the performances.
