Show runs May 9 – 18 at CCBC Dundalk


Baltimore County, MD (April 29, 2025) – Dundalk Community Theatre, in residence at Community College of Baltimore County, presents Hairspray — book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman. It is based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters, May 9 – 18, 2025. Performances will be held at the Alvin and Mary Lloyd College Center, John E. Ravekes Theatre at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road. 

It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do!

In addition to the show, join us for a special Mother's Day Tea, 1- 3 p.m., Sunday, May 11. Indulge in an elegant afternoon featuring a delightful assortment of teas and sweet and savory treats in the upper lobby of the Lloyd College Center (same building as John E. Ravekes Theatre). It's the perfect way to celebrate with loved ones before enjoying the show.

DCT's production of Hairspray is directed by John Desmone with set, lighting, sound design and technical direction by Marc W. Smith. Bambi Johnson is the choreographer, and costumes are by Tiffany Zellner. Music director is Jim Kraus with TraceyAnn Tokar Smith as stage manager and Amy Vickers as properties manager.
Performance times include:

  • 8 p.m.  May 9, 10, 16, 17
  • 3 p.m. May 11, 18

Ticket prices are $22 (adults), $20 (seniors), $15 (student/child) and free for CCBC students with current ID. Mother’s Day Tea is $30. Tickets can be purchased at the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787), online at ccbctickets.com or at the door one hour prior to the performances.
