Baltimore County, MD – (May 26, 2026) – Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) has received a $15,000 grant from the Caroline Fredricka Holdship Charitable Trust through the PNC Charitable Trusts Grant Review Committee. The funds will support CCBC’s summer youth programs, specifically increasing access to high-quality, hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning for underserved youth.
The grant will fund scholarships for more than 50 students to attend the summer programs, including weeklong, hands-on STEM courses on topics such as robotics and biomedical research. Students can also enroll in Teen Career Pathways that give students ages 12-17 the chance to explore potential career fields, including transportation and logistics, nursing, first response, and the power of DNA.
The gift also supports a Back-to-School STEM Readiness Week that begins two weeks before school starts. Readiness Week is a one-week bridge experience that acclimates students to the expectations of the school year and strengthens core academic foundations, including algebra readiness, academic writing, and organizational and study skills. The week is intended to prepare students to return to school with stronger habits, higher confidence, and a feeling of eagerness for the new school year.
CCBC’s Summer Youth STEM programs are available through the college’s Continuing Education department. Continuing Education offers life enrichment classes for children and teens ages 7-17 in a variety of subjects, from academics to cooking to visual and performing arts.
