Exhibition explores the dimensions of identity through works from nine distinctive artists.

Baltimore County, Md. (Nov. 3, 2026)–The Gallery at CCBC Catonsville presents “(un)Alter(ed) Ego” through Dec. 18 in the Center for the Arts, 800 South Rolling Road. A reception on Nov. 6, 6-8 p.m., is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to meet and converse with the artists.

The exhibition explores the many dimensions of identity through works that reflect personal experiences, self-discovery, memory, and transformation. Bringing together eight distinctive artists from diverse backgrounds, the exhibition celebrates both the individuality of our journeys and the shared experiences that connect us.

“Through the voices of artists of different ages, ethnicities, cultures, and lived experiences, the show reveals how identity is never singular or fixed,” said Rieko Chacey, the curator. “Instead, it is a shifting constellation of influences, histories, and inner reflections. By presenting this diversity with intention and care, the exhibition seeks to build meaningful connections with the Baltimore community, offering viewers an opportunity to recognize themselves in the stories of others.”

Chacey is a Baltimore-based multimedia artist, educator, and Japanese American immigrant whose work bridges graphic design, motion design, video, interactive media, and illustration. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally, and she also teaches design and digital media at Towson University, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Goucher College, and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, where she mentors emerging artists and designers.

Featured artists include Vero Barker-Barzel, Mike Byson, Carlotta Cerrato, Rieko Chacey, Jim Doran, Ellen MacKenzie, Lynn Nguyen and Lesie Shellow.

Admission to “(un)Alter(ed) Ego” is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit www.ccbcmd.edu/galleries.
