About Coppin State University (CSU)

Coppin State University (CSU) is a model urban, residential liberal arts university located in the northwest section of the City of Baltimore. Coppin, an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), has a culturally rich history as an institution providing quality educational programs and community outreach services.

Coppin offers 53 majors and nine graduate degree programs and is recognized for their arts and sciences, teacher education and nursing programs. Coppin serves Baltimore residents as well as students from around the world, with flexible course schedules that include convenient day, evening and weekend classes and distance learning courses.

The student population is comprised of nearly 4,000 students, many being Baltimore residents from very diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Coppin has graduated thousands of alumni who are making a tremendous impact in the State of Maryland in various fields, particularly human services.

Degrees to Succeed

Complete your associate degree at Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) and transfer credits seamlessly to earn your bachelor’s degree at Coppin State University (CSU), thanks to the Degrees to Succeed program.

Dual admission to CCBC and CSU. 
Acceptance of all transfer credits for Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degree programs.
Acceptance of up to forty-five (45) credits in transfer through CCBC’s documented prior learning and high school articulation agreement, as applied to an associate degree.  Learn more about prior learning at CSU.
Junior standing upon transfer, with priority registration and housing.
Access to institutional, academic and student support services at CSU.
Co-advising by CSU to ensure your CCBC courses align with your chosen program. 
A one-time $1,000 scholarship tuition credit and opportunities for additional transfer scholarships offered by CSU.
Waiver of CSU application fee.

Earned no more than 45 college credits (this includes college credit completed outside of CCBC).
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater for credits completed at CCBC.

Discuss this program with your academic advisor to verify your eligibility to participate.
Submit the acknowledgement form, which outlines the student checklist, program requirements and permission to share your academic information with CSU.
CCBC will submit the completed acknowledgement form to CSU.
CSU will contact you regarding the next steps to enroll in the program.
