Maryland Scholarships and Grants

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) is committed to assisting Maryland residents and families to complete their education. OSFA has scholarship and grant programs based on a student's financial need, talents and gifts, or on career choice.

Edward T. and Mary A. Conroy & Jean B. Cryor Memorial Scholarship

Howard P. Rawlings Program of Educational Excellence Awards

The Educational Assistance and Guaranteed Access Grants require students to complete 30 credit hours by the end of the students' second academic year.

Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship

With the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship, college-ready, recent high school graduates can attend CCBC debt-free!

As “last dollar in scholarships,” this scholarship covers tuition and mandatory fees for eligible students after applying all other financial awards—such as Pell grants, state aid and scholarships. See if you qualify today!

Near Completer Grant

The Near Completers Grant is for Maryland residents, who started a degree, but did not finish. This grant encourages students near completion to re-enroll to earn a degree. Specifically, students who have earned at least 45 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA at a community college are encouraged to apply.

Students may apply directly through the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

Part-Time Grant

The Part-Time Grant is awarded to Maryland residents who are degree-seeking undergraduates enrolled in at least 6, but no more than 11 credits, per semester. To apply for this need-based grant, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year as soon as possible. Awards are made based on the availability of state funds. You need to apply each year to be considered for this annual award.

Students can apply via AcademicWorks.  Please check for deadline dates as these funds are awarded throughout each academic year.

Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship

The Workforce Development Sequence scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students enrolling in an approved non-credited certificate program leading to apprenticeships, employment, licensure, or job skill enhancement at a community college.

Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program

The Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant (WSSAG) program is for students who plan to work in specific career or occupational programs upon graduation.  Eligible fields include: child care, human services, teaching, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social work, and public service.

Students may apply directly through the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).
