Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

As an open-door admissions institution, CCBC grants admission to all students regardless of immigration status.

In 2012, the Federal Government made provisions for undocumented minors to defer removal actions. For the most up-to-date information on this deferral, please visit uscis.gov/i-821d.

DACA eligibility must be renewed with USCIS every year.

How to Apply

Determine if you meet DACA eligibility and apply through USCIS

In order to qualify for DACA in-state tuition rates, a student must meet the identity and residency requirements stipulated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for Deferred Action for Childhood arrivals (DACA) and present a valid I-797 form as evidence of approval.

Submit the CCBC application

Upon receipt of DACA renewal from USCIS, please bring the CCBC DACA Acknowledgement Form and copies of the following to a CCBC International Student Services office:
  • Photo identification
  • Original USCIS I-797 form, which grants Deferred Action
The International Student Services office will review the documentation within 14 days of receipt. If you are determined to be eligible for the DACA benefit, a notification letter will be mailed.

Important information about DACA requests

Due to federal court orders, USCIS has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA. USCIS is not accepting requests from individuals who have never been granted deferred action under DACA. Learn more »

Please note: Applying for this benefit does not change the student’s responsibility to pay their tuition and fees before the eligibility is determined.

The eligibility requirements, standards and processes for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are different from those of the Maryland Dream Act. Students can receive either the Dream Act or DACA tuition benefit, but not both.
