Missed NSO? Or starting in the winter or summer semester?

You can request a transition meeting if you:
  • Register for your first classes after our January or August orientations have occurred
  • Are starting classes in the winter or summer terms and don't want to wait for January or August
  • Are starting classes as a late-start student mid-semester.

New Student Orientation (NSO)

Part I: Get Informed

Students should view the Online New Student Orientation to learn important information about CCBC:

  • Academic Pathways
  • The Culture of College
  • Co-Curricular Involvement
  • Campus Resources
  • Campus Safety, Parking, & Other Policies
  • Technology & OneCard Services

Part II: Get Connected

These large group sessions are for students who are new to the college and have enrolled in classes. They are held in January and August each year. NSO provides students with great information about what they will experience both inside and outside of the classroom. The sessions start with an opportunity to connect with faculty and learn more about CCBC's Academic Pathways and classroom expectations. The remainder of the session is modeled after an Escape Room experience and engages students in problem-solving activities to learn important tips about CCBC! A campus tour is also included when the NSO session is on campus.

Transition Meeting

Transition Meetings are for enrolled students who are new to the college and will start classes in the winter or summer terms or as a late start student mid-semester. Transition meetings are also available for students who are unable to attend New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions due to extenuating circumstances. These meetings are scheduled with our First-Year Experience (FYE) Mentors, who are returning student leaders. In these meetings, our FYE Mentors cover the material students miss when they cannot attend the large group NSO sessions.

Pre-O Meeting

Pre-Orientation (or Pre-O) meetings are for students who are not yet registered for classes but would like more information about CCBC before enrolling. These meetings are scheduled with our First-Year Experience (FYE) Mentors, who are returning student leaders. In these meetings, our FYE Mentors talk with students about what CCBC has to offer and answer any questions they may have about enrolling at the college.
