Health Informatics and Information Technology
Health care is the fastest growing market in the computer field. The Health Information Management (HIM) field is rapidly evolving from paper-based medical records management to an increasingly electronic environment.The Health Informatics and Information Technology (HIIT) AAS degree program prepares students for a challenging career path that combines a profession in health care and information technology. Courses in the health record, medical coding, reimbursement, and health data analysis are offered while providing a strong technology core to prepare students for today’s HIM career.
CCBC’s Health Informatics and Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) in cooperation with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national certifying RHIT examination administered by AHIMA.
Successful completion of the program awards an Associate of Applied Science degree. Health Informatics graduates can choose from a variety of work settings across an array of health care environments as health information technicians, clinical documentation specialist, compliance managers, quality assurance officers, and health data analysts.
