The certificate program is designed for students seeking entry-level positions in Behavioral Health Counseling, and introduces the core functions of alcohol and drug counseling. Students completing this certificate exceed the educational requirements required to apply for Counselor Trainee status with the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.

This course sequence reflects the curriculum for a student who has completed any developmental coursework and has no transfer credits. Meet with an Advisor to discuss how credits from this certificate may also apply to a degree program.
For Program Electives , select from course options listed in Program Electives.*Credit students who are new to college (no successfully completed transferable college credits from other institutions) are required to take ACDV 101 - Academic Development 101. This 1-credit course is designed to be taken in the first semester at CCBC. Students must provide an official transcript(s) from an accredited institution to document successful completion of college coursework for the ACDV 101 requirement to be waived.
