Construction Management Certificate, Credit Certificate
The certificate option is a sequence of specialized courses designed for persons working in the construction field or those who have completed prior college-level studies and desire to train for a construction-related position. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as course prerequisites are met. Some courses may be offered in alternate semesters only. A certificate will be awarded to students completing the courses with a 2.0 GPA or higher.
Program objectives
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
- read, visualize, and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, conditions and contracts, and analyze how they work together as a unified whole;
- identify, describe, and select construction materials and methods used in residential and commercial construction;
- apply various math formulas related to areas, volumes, and quantities of materials as well as formulas for construction costs including: time, labor, material, equipment, and finance;
- assemble and input construction information into various computer software to help control the construction process;
- examine different methods of communication, problem-solving, and decision-making;
- identify and interpret safety and health regulations as they pertain to construction; and
- analyze how to be an effective Construction Manager.
