From pathology labs and surgical centers to dermatology offices and veterinary clinics, Histotechnologists play a critical role in the diagnostic process. Paving the way for diagnosis, they prepare and analyze tissue samples to effectively guide treatment plans, detect diseases early and, ultimately, save lives.
Thanks to the expert guidance of industry professionals, our graduates enter this detail-driven field with real-world expertise. They work and learn directly under Pathologists and Pathology Assistants to home in on the strong fine motor-skills required to succeed in this position – mastering techniques like precise embedding, microtomy (slicing) and staining.
Several scholarships are available to Histotechnology students, including the Lucy Hoilman Fund and the Lindsay Ruland Black-Eyed Susan Histotechnology Scholarship.
Students complete three internships to gain hands-on experience and prepare for the Board of Certification exam. CCBC proudly maintains a 100% pass rate.
Small and cohort-based, this program gives students dedicated attention from our program faculty, forging long-term comradery with their peers and mentors.

Over the past three years, CCBC’s Histotechnology program has maintained a 100% ASCP Board of Certification exam pass rate, exceeding the national average. In 2024, our program had 100% retention after students entered their final year and 100% graduate job placement or continued education within one year of completing the program.
