Emergency Medical Services Technology

CCBC EMT Faculty standing in front of training ambulance

The CCBC Emergency Medical Services Technology program educates and trains individuals to both EMT basic and paramedic.

Our goal is to prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

EMTs and paramedics provide vital life-sustaining assessment and care to those who are experiencing an out of hospital medical or traumatic emergency, and transports those persons to an appropriate medical facility where more definitive care can be rendered.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is a one-semester course of approximately 200 hours of combined classroom, laboratory and field experience. The curriculum is designed based on the current Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for EMT.

The paramedic program is 16 months of study with approximately 1500 hours of combined classroom, laboratory, hospital clinical and field experience. The curriculum is based on the current Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for Paramedic.
