Radiography uses x-ray radiation to create images of the tissues, organs, bones and vessels that make up the human body.
Most people are familiar with chest x-rays and also know that x-rays are the best way to diagnose broken bones. However, radiographers (x-ray technologists) perform a variety of these procedures in locations such as the operating room, emergency department, catheterization suites and bedside (for immobilized patients), to produce images of human anatomy for the physician to read and make a diagnosis.

Collect pertinent materials like unofficial transcripts for all U.S. college‐level coursework and testing completed. Use these to help you complete the application.
If you have never before applied through the SHP CAS system, then create an account in SHP CAS through the applicant portal and follow the directions to complete the applications.
If you applied using the SHP CAS System before, then login and verify that all areas are correct. If you have taken additional courses, you must add them and send an official transcript showing the completed or in‐progress courses.
Once all sections of the application have a green check mark, you will be able to pay the $50 non‐refundable application fee. It is better to submit the application at least a month before the application deadline: April 15 for Fall start.
Submit your official U.S. college transcripts, including CCBC, electronically to the SHP CAS. This is done in the Academic History quadrant in the SHP CAS application. Under each college listed as attended, there is an Order button. Click on that and you will be able to access the transcript companies to request the transcript(s).
If your college only sends hard copies through the mail, include the Transcript Request Form found in the Academic History quadrant of the SHP CAS application. The form connects your transcript to your application account. Both documents should be mailed to:

CLEP, AP and non-U.S. college transcript evaluations (AACRAO, WES, etc.) should be sent directly to the CCBC Registrar’s office, for transfer of credit to occur. Complete the Transfer Evaluation Request Form. to ensure that your submitted transcripts will be evaluated.
It can take four to six weeks for any transcript to be received, evaluated and verified. Check your SHP CAS account frequently, by clicking on the “Check Status” button. It is better to send all transcripts as soon as possible.
Submit official TEAS scores to CCBC’s SHP Admissions office. Select CCBC TEAS at time of testing to have official transcripts sent. We strongly recommended the score of: Composite = Proficient or higher.
The TEAS exam must be completed by the TEAS deadline of April 15.
Submit for approval, all required paperwork for the hospital observation day. Schedule the observation in a hospital setting only.
Submit the completed evaluation form, sealed in the original envelope, directly to the Radiography Program Director office. The deadline to submit observation paperwork is April 15.
After you submit your SHP CAS application and it is Verified, the SHP Admission Office will send an email requesting that a supplemental application be completed. There is no additional fee associated with the supplemental application.
Expect communication regarding your application to the email address that you entered into the SHP CAS.
Our program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology and maintains an eight year accreditation status, with the next review in Fall 2030. We enjoy a more than fifty-year history of educating future radiography (x-ray) personnel who are employed in: Imaging centers, physicians' offices, hospitals, mobile companies, surgical centers and urgent care facilities.
The mission of the Community College of Baltimore County’s Radiography Program is to prepare qualified students to be competent diagnostic medical radiographers and skilled members of the health care team at large. This is accomplished primarily by providing a carefully designed curriculum that uses the resources of CCBC and the program's clinical sites to provide students with a foundation of higher education based on the liberal arts and sciences. The Program compliments the overall college campus mission by educating health care providers who will remain in the area as productive working citizens and directly contribute to the betterment of the public health of the community, and a commitment to life-long learning.
Through a combination of classroom and clinical education, students in the CCBC Radiography program will complete the following program goals:
