You must take a placement test if you are a first-time college student and any of the following apply:
- Your final 11th grade or 12th grade high school GPA (unweighted) is below 2.5.
- Your SAT scores are below 480 in Reading/Writing or below 530 in Math.
- Your ACT scores in Reading, Writing, or Math are below 21.
- Your GED scores in Language Arts or Math are below 165.

How can you be exempt from testing?
You may not need to complete a course placement assessment if you can provide official documentation dated within the last 5 years showing:
- ENGL 101 placement: High school GPA (11th or 12th grade, unweighted) of at least 2.5, SAT Evidence-Based Reading/Writing score of at least 480, ACT Reading/Writing score of at least 21or GED Language Arts score of at least 165.
- MATH 083/125/153 placement: High school GPA of at least 3.0, SAT Math score of at least 530, ACT Math score of at least 21 or GED Math score of at least 165.
- MATH 163 level: SAT Math score of at least 570 or ACT Math score of at least 23.
You may also be exempt if you have successfully completes college-level English or Math courses at another college. To be exempt, you must send official transcripts to Student Records.
