The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) celebrates the Lowe’s Foundation for its investment in strengthening Maryland’s skilled trades workforce. Through a generous grant, CCBC has expanded and modernized its HVAC training program, increasing access and accelerating pathways into high-demand careers.
This support has transformed the Dundalk campus into a state-of-the-art training hub for both new learners and experienced technicians. The HVAC lab was fully renovated with industry-standard tools, updated curriculum, and modern technology, alongside upgrades to four neighboring labs that enhance the overall learning environment.
The impact has been immediate:
- Full program access at Dundalk – Students can now complete the Basic HVAC Certificate without traveling to another campus.
- Accelerated program delivery – Training that once took 9–12 months can now be completed in just four months, with no reduction in instructional hours.
- Small, high-touch cohorts – Class sizes of 8–10 students support hands-on learning and individualized instruction.
- Dedicated instructional support – A full-time HVAC Instructional Specialist provides consistent guidance and expertise.
- Enrollment growth has exceeded expectations, reflecting strong regional demand for skilled trades careers and the program’s reputation for quality and accessibility.
Looking ahead, CCBC is expanding with:
- Evening cohorts beginning Fall 2026 for working adults
- New Building Engineer and Building Automation pathways
- Advanced training modules for experienced technicians
With this investment, CCBC is evolving into a comprehensive career advancement hub. The Lowe’s Foundation’s support is expanding opportunity, strengthening the workforce, and helping build a scalable model for future training initiatives.
